East of England Secure Data Environment
The East of England Secure Data Environment (SDE) is a digital platform that supports secure, controlled access to de-personalised NHS patient data for research that improves public health.
It has been built in partnership with NHS organisations across the East of England, with state-of-the-art cybersecurity measures, controlled access and robust oversight of data usage. The East of England SDE is funded through an NHS England programme, and is part of a network of regional secure data environments across England.
The data available for research through the East of England SDE ultimately comes from NHS patients across the region. They have been an essential part of its design, and continue to be represented through our Core Public Advisory Group and representation on the Data Access Committee.
The East of England Secure Data Environment is ISO 27001 registered. ISO 27001 is a globally recognised standard for managing information security. These requirements helps organisations protect sensitive information by considering people, policies and technology. Following this standard supports better risk awareness and management, boosts cyber resilience and improves overall operations.
